Hi, I want to tell a story about a Software Engineer. Our hero - the Software Engineer is a very good guy (lets have it for the story). He/She is talented, energetic, allways have the thirst for knowledge, helps other and wants to do something good for the organization (Imagine). One fine day he was assigned with a task for the upcoming project (believed that the project will come to their company). Our hero gets excited and he analyzes the task and discuss with some big people and sends the design to everyone in team and all are fine with that.
Our hero starts the coding and finds some part of the task very complicated. But he toils himself and finishes. He/she executes the code before the team. All are jealous about our hero. Our hero literally flying high. Here comes the twist, one of the design team member asks our hero to add one small functionality in the task. Our hero accepts that and do it immediately. It goes for demo before the client. The client is attracted about the design and work. But the client gives few simple modification that changes the entire design.
Our hero takes this as a challenge and again he starts the coding. Now the design team suggest some easy design that is straight opposite to what our hero develops. Our hero shows a smile to everyone and starts again from the scratch. He/She toils again and completes. The work is shown to the design team lead. The design team lead and the guy who suggested the design has some ego problem again a twist.
The design team lead again changes the design. Our hero feels like crying because the final demo has to be shown in 3 days. Our hero works day and night and a day before the demo he delivers the code. Again the design team lead has a suggestion. Our hero looks at his manager. Manager was not saying anything to the design team lead. Our hero agrees for the changes. Manager personally advice our hero "Please learn to say NO". Hero's mind voice, "Well said, when you are not able to say no. how come you are expecting me to say no?". Again our hero laughs and do the changes.
Final demo, client was certainly not happy about the design. This issue gets escalated. Delivery head enquires what went wrong and founds our hero is reason for the project failuire. Finally our hero was terminated. Our hero questions himself "What I tried? I tried to do something good for my organization.". He blames himself as the life he leads is a cursed life.
Moral: Love your job and not your company. Be a smart worker.
Really good story
